アメリカで盗難などに遭った場合

自分がお手伝いしたことや、経験したことから
ちょっとまとめて残しておこうと思ったので、書いてみます。

※　この情報は、上記のように私の知っている範囲の情報です。
　　　必ず、ご自身での確認をお願いいたします。

盗難に遭った場合・・・

1．速やかに最寄の警察へ届け出てください。
　　911は基本的に、まだ犯人がその場所にいる場合や人命にかかわる場合に
　　かけるようです。
　　しかし、ローカルの警察署の電話番号を普段から控えていない場合があります。
　　その場合は、911から転送してくれます。
　　警察到着までのおよその時間も聞いておきましょう。
　　到着まで1時間以上かかる場合もあります。　　　

2．警察が到着すると事情聴取を受けます。
　　指紋採取をしてくれない場合もあります。
　　事情聴取が終わると、その事件に対しての「レポート番号」を書いた用紙をくれます。
　　その番号が銀行などへの手続きに必要になる場合がありますので
　　大事に保管してくださいね。

3．銀行・クレジットカード会社への連絡
　　警察の到着予定時間が遅い場合は、こちらを先にした方がよいと思います。
　　銀行のカード番号や、口座番号が手元に無い場合でも「ソーシャル・セキュリティー番号」から、探してくれます。
　　チェッキング・アカウントの場合、何か回ってきていたらそれがクリアーになるまでは
　　口座を閉じることはできません。その間は、アラート設定をしてもらいます。

　　これをすることによって、第三者が口座からお金を引き出したりする事を
　　少しでも防ぐことができます。
　　　（基本的には、本人確認をしてくれるとの事です）

4．ソーシャルセキュリティー番号について
　　こちらも、何かしら個人情報に関するものが盗まれた場合、
　　その人のソーシャル・セキュリティー番号を使って、クレジット・レコードの確認や
　　ローンなどを作らせないために連絡するところがありますから、そこへ連絡しましょう。

　　ソーシャル・セキュリティーの事務所で手続きなど教えてくれます。
　　

5．運転免許証
　　　こちらも再発行手続きをしてもらいましょう。
　　　再発行料がかかる州とそうでない州があります。

6．パスポート
　　　こちらは、日本の領事館になります。
　　　再発行の際、カードでは受け付けてくれないと聞いたことがありますので
　　　確認してくださいね。（もちろん、かばんなどを盗まれたらご本人のカードは手元に
　　　ありませんが、会社などのどなたかが代わりに立て替えてくださる場合のお話です）
